Two French lifeboatmen rescued by ‘Christine’

A GROUP of French sailors had to be rescued yesterday after their yacht was dismasted en route from Guernsey to Sark.
Marine ambulance Flying Christine III was called out to help the Vertige back to St Peter Port after the forestay pin broke at about 11.50am near Jethou, causing the mast to collapse. None of the crew was hurt.
The team were on a sailing trip from Brittany and had been staying in Guernsey since Friday before setting off for Sark yesterday morning.
Crew member Gaetane Le Roc’h said: ‘We asked for a rescue and first some men arrived on a sailing boat to help then the ambulance boat came to help us.’

Why didn’t the the lifeboat get sent to this boat in distress?
Surely the ambulance service should concentrate on medical emergency services.

If you read the previous article about the Lt Govenor being on board the Flying Christine, it states “he witneesd a rescue”. This was probably the rescue he wintnessed.
would make sense to send a boat that it already out on manouvers rather than scramble another crew

Didn’t see that article. I agree does make sense sending a boat already out. Surely that should have been mentioned in this article.
