New bypass pipe to be installed at reservoir

A DIVING team is to be used to install a new bypass pipe on the bed of St Saviour’s Reservoir.
An island-wide risk assessment of the water infrastructure identified the need for a pipe to divert stream flow away from the reservoir in the event of the incoming raw water not being of high quality.
‘The installation of this bypass main is important as it gives us flexibility with the stream flow that enters the reservoir,’ said Guernsey Water director of water services Andrew Redhead, pictured.
‘Improving the reliable quality of the raw water will ultimately lead to better quality treated water for our customers.’
