Watson through to semi
Friday 23rd September 2011, 2:29PM BST.
HEATHER WATSON has reached the semi-finals of the Aegon GB Pro-Series event in Shrewsbury after victory over fellow Brit Naomi Broady.
Watson, seeded six, won the opening set 7-5 but succumbed to a tie-break defeat of 8-6 in the second.
She recovered to win the deciding set 6-3 and claim victory in what was a close and fairly scrappy match against her good friend Broady.
‘I’ve been training with Naomi in America before the US Open so it wasn’t a surprise that today’s match was very close,’ Watson said. ‘She was serving really well and I just managed to find enough in the third set to get the win.’
