Telecoms firm to take mast decision to tribunal
Saturday 24th September 2011, 2:29PM BST.
A FRUSTRATED telecoms company is hoping a planning decision appeal will resurrect plans to put up a phone mast in the Vale.
Airtel-Vodafone will challenge at an independent tribunal the Environment Department board’s rejection of plans to erect an 18-metre mobile pole at Oakleigh Vinery, off Landes du Marche.
Planners recommended that the application should be given the go-ahead, but deputies rejected the suggestion and questioned the need for another mast on the island.
Airtel-Vodafone vice-president Ian Campbell (pictured) said the company had spoken to planning staff again following politicians’ criticisms of the application at an open planning meeting before deciding to appeal.
