Island to host awards

GUERNSEY will host the Britain and Bloom finals award presentation next year.

It will be the first time in the event’s 48-year history that it will be held in the Channel Islands.

The winning bid was put together by Floral Guernsey. Chairman Tony Spruce said: ‘This is a huge honour and it goes to show how highly regarded we are as a horticultural centre of excellence.

‘The event will see around 500 visitors from the length and breadth of Britain visiting Guernsey to take part in the awards evening, giving a fantastic boost to local tourism and further raising awareness of Guernsey and the Bailiwick.’

A brilliant way to advertise our island
I hope all will take this on board and put up floral displays, a opportunity does not come our way often .
So make the most of it
All these visitor will be here to see the floral in the island and will go home and tell family and friends .
This could result in many more visitors coming to the island.
So make a difference and plant as much as possible .
If all shops in town put even one hanging basket up the town would looks super
