There could be another crisis in banking, says whistleblower

WHISTLEBLOWER Paul Moore (pictured) will not rule out a repeat of the 2008 banking crisis.
The former head of regulatory risk at HBOS was in the island to speak at the latest Guernsey Association of Compliance Officers’ seminar.
He talked to the association about the implications of the banking crisis and the story behind the demise of HBOS, which saw him in 2005 approach the company’s executives and warn them about the risks they were taking with financial stability and consumer protection.
The board reacted by sacking him and offered him a financial settlement on condition that he never spoke about the warnings he had given.
