Business leader welcomes FoI paper

A DISCUSSION paper that could form the basis of a Guernsey freedom of information act has met a positive response.
Proposals in a report by former Ministry of Justice senior civil servant Belinda Crowe include publishing information about expenses and salary ranges of key public figures, providing a written account of States meetings and giving the public access to Scrutiny and other States committee meetings.
Chamber of Commerce president Julian Winser (pictured) said transparency was extremely important.
But providing information has to be balanced with time and cost.
