Phased funding cut gives colleges seven years falling income

GRANTS for colleges will be cut by £1.1m. over seven years after deputies voted through Policy Council proposals in yesterday’s debate.
The proposals are intended to create savings under the Financial Transformation Programme by reducing the level of support given to the island’s three private schools.
Chairman of Ladies’ College governors Deputy Peter Gillson (pictured) said the proposal had the support of the schools.
‘We do believe that the suggested reduction can be achieved without adversely affecting the colleges,’ he said.
