Friday 30th September 2011, 2:30PM BST.

Gavin FergusonTHE Guernsey legal market has been a recent hive of activity, according to the 2011 edition of the Legal 500.

In its latest annual publication, the legal directory makes reference to the opening of Appleby’s Guernsey office, the pan-island mergers of Ozannes with Mourant du Feu & Jeune and Collas Day with Crill Canavan, as well as the proposals to introduce Guernsey’s own foundations law – all of which has happened within the last 18 months.

This year’s publication is also the first time that Appleby has been ranked for its Guernsey operations, placing in the third tier for both commercial and banking and private client, trusts and tax.

Additionally, it is in the fourth tier for both investment funds and dispute resolution.

Office managing partner Gavin Ferguson (pictured) said the firm was pleased that all its practice areas had been recognised.
