Poor maths mark hits St Sampson’s

STUDENTS under-performing in maths was the cause of St Sampson’s High’s low GCSE pass rate this year, its head teacher has said.
Annabel Bolt, who has just started her second year in the job, defended the school after it emerged that only 20% of pupils achieved five GCSE grades at C or above including maths and English – the benchmark used to judge schools in England.
Schools in England are required to hit a target of 35% to avoid being identified as failing.
Mrs Bolt (pictured) said her school’s result could be put down to it being forced to replace four out of its five-strong maths team in the last two years.

What rubbish Mrs Bolt speaks. The Maths teachers at St Sampsons has not changed that much at all in the last few years. It is simply down to poor teachers in that subject who have been there a while.The children don’t get much homework in Maths.

On another thread it states that Mrs Bolt’s previous school in the UK was closed down due to poor results. Is that true? If so, how on earth did she land the job as head of St Sampsons?

Did Mrs Bolt get A*-C in Maths I wonder? A simple calculation from my daughter (a pupil there!) tells me there are 6 full time maths teachers at St. Sampsons High and one part-time at the moment. At least three have been there since the new school opened. Come on, if you are going to quote facts and figures at least get them right!!!

I understand Mrs Bolt used to be head of a school in Rochdale, but not, as rumours suggest, the one where they are now filming Waterloo Road
