Bulk mailers and politicians meet as lower VAT cap looms

HIGH-LEVEL meetings have taken place between Guernsey and Jersey’s governments and their respective fulfilment industries to discuss the future of Channel Islands VAT-free exports to the UK.
But members of Guernsey’s bulk mail sector yesterday refused to comment on trade concerns over Low Value Consignment Relief.
LVCR currently means UK customers do not have to pay VAT on posted goods worth less than £18. The limit is set to be lowered to £15 next month.
Commerce and Employment minister Carla McNulty Bauer confirmed bulk mail and fulfilment industries in Guernsey and Jersey had been given simultaneous briefings about potential developments in the UK.
