A SCALE model of a new sewage treatment plant was unveiled to islanders last night.

But just four people went to the drop-in session about the project.

Guernsey Wastewater, overseen by Guernsey Water, is behind the £10m. project, which aims to update the Belle Greve site.

Water services director Andrew Redhead said the purpose of the drop-in was to keep islanders informed about the progress of the project, which is due to go before the States within a few months.

Rather than being troubled by the low-turnout, he was quite pleased.

‘It demonstrated that people are not concerned by the project,’ he said.

* Anyone concerned about the project can contact the Guernsey Water operational centre on 239500.

The Low turnout has nothing to do with people not being concerned about the project but more to do with the apathy in this island at the moment which is getting worse due to current issues in this island.
The feeling is that no matter what you say, especially any criticism, it won’t change things or have any effect.
The general feeling is we are ignored anyway and all this openness is purely a PR exercise for the sake of it

Completely agree. To sum it up a bit quicker, the word I believe is “dictatorship”.

I still don’t understand why we are paying for this, all my waste water is fed to my cows.

Looks like egg boxes, washing up liquid bottles and sticky back plastic, doubtless a few handrails to view the sewage head out to sea. They have yet to control the pollution from fire fighting foam on the Airport, let alone have to decide which or how many of the three waste streams to use for sewage.
