Trio are called up by Ogier
Thursday 13th October 2011, 2:30PM BST.
STEVE OGIER has been forced to reshuffle his pack after three withdrawals from his squad ahead of Saturday’s first round clash in the FA Inter-League Cup.
The Sarnians are the competition holders under the guise of the Guernsey Senior County League and begin their defence away at debutants Devon & Exeter League with just three players remaining from the team who won the final at the Track in May 2010.
With island star Joby Bourgaize now unavailable to travel, another experienced head has gone, while Sylvans pair Greg Roland and Ashley Williams have also been knocked out by injury.
It means that North goalkeeper Tom Creed, Vale Rec defender Miles Pengelley and UK-based Tom de la Mare have all been drafted in, with Ogier (pictured) confident they can do a good job if required.

there may be a reason, and i am not in any way knocking u.k. based players, but surely it is a better option to pick home based players who play week in week out to have the chance to represent the island

I think Steve has no other option than to utilise all local talent at his disposal. Even if it means using some of our UK based lads. The lad de la Mare is one of our most naturally talented footballers we produced in years. Guernsey FC has left a void in ‘local’ football. I think until GFC is few more years old, we will have to wait for ‘developed’ players to appear in the local game.
