L’Ancresse races will carry on until powers that be stop them
Saturday 15th October 2011, 2:29PM BST.

Guernsey Race Club president Jim Jamouneau at L’Ancresse, where soil had been brought in for course levelling, yesterday.
RACING at L’Ancresse will continue until the powers that be say otherwise, says the president of the Guernsey Race Club.
Jim Jamouneau was responding to a horse racing consultant from Animal Aid UK who condemned the course.
Dene Stansall told a meeting on Thursday night that the condition of the course meant it was not fit for purpose and could not be improved.
And future races would continue to present major health and safety concerns for horses, jockeys and spectators.
But Mr Jamouneau said UK trainers would not come to Guernsey if they thought their horse was in danger.

yes this farce endangers horses but also endangers the public, i wonder who insure`s these events , because i doubt they will do this year , realising that young children and the public are inches away from powerful fast horses , and the public is protected by a wonky fence and in places a piece of rope , amazing how this guernsey event hasnt been prosectued so far!

Brodie.
No one is forcing you to watch. Don’t poke your nose into other peoples sport. Its do gooders like you that are turning the UK into a Health and safety obsessed nightmare.

@ brodie – I mean the fun the people watching the races have. Which i thought was pretty obvious really, but please feel free to turn my words around.
Ohhhh nice use of inverted commas too, gives it a real sarcastic and accusing undertone! Fresh stuff.
Right i’m off to “endanger” myself now by standing “inches away from powerful fast” cars while i cross the road. Wish me luck!

And once again the fluffy bunnies come out to play.
If anyone has seen the propganda Animal Aid UK come out with can see (if they are a logical, balanced person) that it’s one sided nonsense with “facts” that are not facts, merely figures embelished to make their points seem like they have a credible basis.
I’d point people to the Horse Welfare Guernsey facebook page, but any reasonable point was removed long ago, in favour of having one person opinion forced upon the reader.

@ ss im far from a do gooder , so far away from a do gooder you wouldnt believe, but when animal`s dying are involved then yes i would stick my nose in, and i also hate all the health and safety but yet again when an animals life is on the line then i will stand up for the voiceless , i wouldnt exactly call it a peoples sport as its not the people that are carrying overweight jockeys (as they were in the lancresse meeting last year) running in the pouring rain being beaten till they collapse, i would call a peoples sport hockey or tennis etc . and @ ben lol, good luck with crossing the road , look for a zebra crossing, although dont get me started on the danger to zebra`s !!!
