LES GENATS Estate was locked down for around six hours yesterday as armed police officers attended a domestic dispute that endangered a mother and child.

Police received a phone call just after 3pm, following which all entrances to the Castel estate were closed off.

Residents were unable to get in or out until the estate was reopened at 9.15pm.

Guernsey Police said it had become apparent that there was significant concern for the safety of a 31-year-old woman and a nine-month-old child.

Police said that they were grateful to other services, agencies and volunteers that supported the operation, adding that it was not appropriate to give any further details of the event, which is now subject of criminal investigation.
