Channel’s sale to ITV ‘is a positive’

Wednesday 19th October 2011, 2:29PM BST.

Karen RankineChannel Television is to be sold to ITV.

The deal to buy Channel TV from privately-owned company the Yattendon Group is expected to be completed in around four weeks, subject to the approval of the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority.

Karen Rankine (pictured), Channel Television managing director of broadcasting, welcomed the deal and said it could lead to additional ITV services –  such as its HD-TV channels – being available locally.

‘It’s obviously a significant change for our company but we feel it is a very positive one.

‘It marks the end of our independent ownership but we already have strong links with ITV’s news operations in the UK and see this as a way to improve those strong links further.’
