ARCHITECTURAL projects in the island will be put in the spotlight after the relaunch of the Guernsey Design Awards.

The awards, developed by the Environment Department, Norman Piette and the Guernsey Society of Architects, will honour the distinctive, original and inspirational and sustainable design of architectural and other built environment projects in Guernsey.

Environment minister Peter Sirett was delighted to see the awards make a comeback after a seven-year break.

‘Awards like this have an important role to play in raising awareness of the hard work of design professionals in Guernsey. I think it is good that the public will be able to see some of the great buildings we have on-island.’

I’d rather see a Press survey inviting readers to nominate their worst bits of architecture. It might be more entertaining than this idea from Environment..

    EXCELLENT IDEA

Come on Mr Editor.See if you can rustle up some sort of prize (although most readers will gladly participate for the fun of it)

There are a couple of downsides I suppose…it might embarrass the person whose property wins and Environment will never talk to you again,EVER

Well at least (in my opinion)
Outfield Park needed bother to partake.

They must be well down the chart…
As compared that is with Bank Suisse, and ex Channel Hotel

Nice places although not modern in such.

But Les Cotils is so beautifully in a
setting that makes you think you’re in another world.
