LIVES were put in danger after the fuel tank from the Flying Christine III’s tender was stolen, the deputy chief ambulance officer has said.
The theft was one of a number, as at least three other tenders from the same pontoon had their fuel tanks stolen, including tenders for sea fisheries, the pilot boat and one belonging to a private owner.
Deputy chief ambulance officer Steve Ford said it was first discovered that the Flying Christine tender’s fuel tank was missing after a regular maintenance check took place on Wednesday morning.
‘The tender needs to be available and if we were to get called out we would be delayed if there was no fuel tank,’ he said.
