Hosts prove too strong for understrength Royal Navy
Friday 21st October 2011, 2:29PM BST.
THE Sarnia Sword Club emerged victorious from their 41st annual match against the Royal Navy.
Several familiar faces were missing from the Royal Navy contingent as recent deployments prevented the visitors from fielding their strongest side, although this allowed some welcome new fencers to join the Navy’s ranks at the Brock Road Youth Centre.
Matches between teams of three were fought at all three weapons – foil, epee and sabre – to a cumulative total of 45 hits.
Victory went to the team with the highest hit score at the end of the match.
