‘Up for it’ Beere denies the Scots

A GREAT day at the Atlantic Championships in Cyprus produced victories for Guernsey over Scotland, Wales and Canada yesterday.
The only regret was last night’s narrow defeat for Matt Le Ber’s triple at the hands of the host country.
The highlight, undoubtedly, was the way in which Jean Simon, Gwen de la Mare and Lucy Beere dented Scotland’s unbeaten record in the women’s triples with a well-deserved 14-7 victory.
‘Perhaps it was the English in me,’ said Beere, who was born on the Isle of Wight and is a former England junior international.
