A GUERNSEY musician has had a composition recorded at world-famous Abbey Road Studios as part of its birthday celebrations.
Josh Cottam, 23, who writes music under the pseudonym Cyrus Almonde, won the worldwide Abbey Road Studios 80th Anniversary Anthem Competition and, along with eight other winning entries, got to witness the London Symphony Orchestra recording his composition at the end of September – even getting to record the lead vocal part himself the next day.
Abbey Road Studios in St John’s Wood, London, is noted as being an iconic venue in the 1960s for innovative recording techniques adopted by The Beatles and Pink Floyd, among others.
The competition, launched at the beginning of the year, was to write an anthem to be performed by a choir. Coincidentally, Mr Cottam was composing a piece at the time that matched one of the themes – a celebration of mood or emotion. His entry was a composition entitled Thank You Eternally.
