Win tickets to glide

ICE, ice, Teddy! GP Ted is thrilled that the ice rink is coming back to Town again to transform Market Square for some frosty festive fun.

Saffery Champness stepped in at the last minute as a main sponsor alongside ongoing sponsor JT and newcomer, energy-savvy Roebuck Trading, so a huge round of a-paws to them for enabling us to get our skates on once again.

Construction of the ice rink takes an awful lot of hard work and planning, which is no surprise when you realise that it takes 45,000 litres of frozen water to fill the six-inch thick rink. The 13m x 19m arena will take eight days to build and last year more than 12,000 people glided across the ice.

We are giving 10 lucky readers the chance to win a pair of tickets for themselves and a friend or family member, to join in the Ice Skate Guernsey launch party on 10 December at 5.30pm for an hour. (Children aged under 6 must be accompanied on the ice by an adult skater, while all under-12s must be supervised by an accompanying adult). The lucky winners will be the first islanders to take to the ice on the opening night before it opens to the public.

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning this really cool prize is to answer the question below:

How thick is the ice on the rink?
a) two inches
b) four inches
c) six inches

So get your skates on and send your answer on a postcard, together with your name and address, age and daytime telephone number to Ice Skate Guernsey competition, GP Ted, Guernsey Press, PO Box 57, Braye Road, Vale, GY1 3BW. Closing date for entries is 5pm on Thursday 6 December and all lucky winners will be notified on Friday 7 December, in time to take part in the fun on Monday 10 December.
