Beaches
There is not much of a north coast on the island, but the small area that makes it up is dominated by one long sandy beach.Known locally as two beaches, L’Ancresse and Pembroke, few can say where one begins and the other ends. There is a large car park at either end and the beaches are popular with tourists because they are easily accessible with long stretches of sand and clean, clear water. The L’Ancresse end is situated below flat common land, much of which is now used as a golf course. But there are still open areas for walking and picnics, and kite flying is a popular activity on suitable days. This tends to be quite often, since the northern end of the island is very exposed. Wind-breaks that can be hired or bought nearby can come in handy on blustery days.
