Having not seem Nemesis perform for some time, I was not sure what to expect. Were they going to be the band I remembered watching in my youth? Would they still have the drive and power in their performance? From the first 10 seconds of the first song, I knew it was going to be a great night.
The temptation was to tease and needle them afterwards about their gig, but damn it, they were awesome. They played tracks from the new album Forever in Metal – which is well worth having, by the way – and a couple of covers, which always has the potential to be criticised, but I couldn’t find fault with them.
It was hard to find any part of their show I could say was weak and the only things I could be negative about were several very short-lived vocal melody errors… that’s it, honestly.
All the songs were good but the stand-out track for me has to be ‘The King is Dead … Long Live the King’.
Ever the enigmatic frontman, Danny Joyce gave his all in what I can only describe as flawless an act as I have seen.
Zak Mousetrappe was, typically, mesmerising people with his skill on guitar, and drummer Daz Carre?
Simple… Guernsey’s best drummer, putting in a meaty and prodigious rhythm. So that leaves the bass player, Bryn Harrison. All I can say is, he looked and played the part. And if you see him out and about, tell him Gene Simmons wants his boots back.
