Otto Neimanis is 19 and has lived in Guernsey for the last 10 years.

He said his interest in playing music emerged when he was about 12, but his limited English made it difficult: ‘It was more a case of capturing thoughts and ideas and practicing, using lyrics as an outlet for emotions.’

As his English skills grew, so did his interest in music. He took GCSE music and said that is where his love for the guitar emerged. His music was very much centred on rap, with a guitar and a PlayStation 2 music creator called Music Generator adding drum beats, bass and so on.

He went on to sing and write songs in different genres, and this was the beginning of an album, which is currently in progress.

He said that eventually he would love to get his music into the public domain and see if there is an audience for what he is doing.

Cars Over Hearts was recorded using NanoStudio for the iPhone, but Otto said he is saving up to get some high quality recording equipment.
