Cuddly toys ‘hold prolonged appeal’
Saturday 26th October 2013, 12:31AM BST.
One in five adults claims to still have their cherished cuddly toys from childhood.
A survey found that soft toys were the most popular relic from their playthings as children to still find a place in their possessions, ahead of Lego and action figures.
The poll – carried out to mark the screening of Sky Movies special Toy Story Of Terror! tomorrow – revealed 22% of those polled still had a cuddly toy.
More than half (52%) of the 2,000 UK adults who took part said they still had one of their childhood toys.
Psychologist Anjula Mutanda said: ” Childhood toys carry such vivid emotional memories that it’s not surprising that many adults find it hard to let go of them.”
The survey also found 17% kept the toys to pass on to their own youngsters – while 10% said they continued to enjoy playing with them.
