£6.5m. less to spend

Friday 28th October 2011, 2:30PM BST.

States Building 475STATES departments could receive £6.5m. less next year than they did in 2011, it has been revealed.

Treasury and Resources is expected to make the recommendation in the 2012 Budget, which is published next Friday.

Until now, departments have been expected to meet savings targets. This time, they would not be given the money in the first place.

Chief executive Mike Brown moved yesterday to address concerns raised by political boards after Health and Social Services member Mary Lowe told Wednesday’s States meeting that her department was expected to strip £2.35m. from its budget.
