THE RISK’S battle with The X Factor has intensified after the Guernsey-based mod powerpop group registered a trademark in that name with the UK’s Intellectual Property Office.
Simon Cowell’s company, Simco, applied to do the same and the local band have lodged an appeal against that with the IPO.
Bassist Mark Le Gallez said the band were hopeful of a successful outcome because of strong evidence of their existence since 1984.
They have released five albums, toured Europe and the USA and are in the process of re-releasing their material.
Another boost has come with the news that The X Factor has been forced to change the name of girl band Rhythmix because of an appeal by a charity of the same title.
