VAT threshold comes down

FULFILMENT businesses in the Channel Islands face an anxious wait for the expected announcement regarding low value consignment relief, the chief executive of Sigma Group has said.

Robert Sillars (pictured) was speaking ahead of the relief’s threshold falling from £18 to £15 tomorrow.

LVCR allows items under that amount to be sent to the UK VAT-free, but the UK is soon expected to change that arrangement.

Potential options include lowering the relief to 10 euros – around £8 – applying a blanket exemption to mail order, or scrapping the relief for the Channel Islands only.
