Firefighters begin to roll the overturned VW Polo back onto its wheels. (1199600)
A DRIVER had a lucky escape when his VW Polo overturned in a two-car crossroads crash just after 10.30am yesterday.
It ended up in the middle of the road with the rear of the driver’s side badly dented and the driver’s window smashed. But the man managed to crawl out before emergency services arrived.
Four ambulances, two fire appliances and one fire car were dispatched to the Les Blicqs/Chemin Le Roi crossroads.
Ambulance and Rescue duty officer Andy Walford said the VW driver – a 46-year-old local man – had been lucky.

Why on earth did they need all of FOUR ambulances?!

Just in case eh

Recently all I’ve seen is old or middle aged people running similarly aged people down.
Why do people get so angry with young drivers when it’s the old doing the damage?

Just in case ?? of what oh I see for the 4 firemen who will possibly all have muscle strain and then claim job related injuries correct me if im wrong but nobody was trapped therefore the recovery guy would winch it back onto its feet using the power of the hydraulics and saving all this expence with so manu ambulances and firefighters and no doubt half the police force and civilan reserves

They would of sent that many resources as it was reported as a 2 vehcle rtc, as the press reports the driver crawled out before the emergency services arrived so at the point of the 999 call he may of still been trapped. and as it was 2 vehicles involved they may not of been aware at the point of the phone call as to how many casualties there were until they arrived. I would always rather extra resources turn up initially then not enough!!

Looks quite clean underneath. Obviously not a dripper.

I’m surprised the Armoured Police van didn’t attend with their guns!

Good to see all the emergency service ‘knockers’ out again. Let’s just hope they send enough resources to you if you ever need them, wouldn’t want you to feel short changed.
Oh, just a thought. Don’t they paid for standing by at their stations as well as attending incidents. They may as well go out and use their skills instead of sitting around.

FYI the driver of the polo was still trapped when the 999 call was made, the driver got out of the car as his door was forced open by a witness. I agree that if the driver who drove straight through that yellow line was 18 rather than 89, the police would throw the book at them. Isn’t it about time they tested the elderly as well as the youngsters?

ENB, couldnt agree more.
