BEAVER group leader Joy Bourgaize has been named Lloyds TSB Child Carer of the Year 2011.

The award was designed to recognise all those who look after babies and young children in Guernsey and is run in association with Guernsey Mums.

Mrs Bourgaize was surprised to receive the £500 cash prize and a certificate from Lloyds TSB judge Craig Duquemin at one of her Beaver meetings.

Mrs Bourgaize, 71, who is known as Brown Beaver, has been volunteering for the last 25 years and provides a weekly programme for 30 girls aged between six and eight.
