States and union to talk on pensions together
Saturday 26th November 2011, 2:30PM GMT.
POTENTIAL reform of Guernsey’s public sector pension scheme has taken a major step forward with the announcement that a joint States and union working group has been set up to discuss the detail.
The States is now advertising for a person to chair the group, which will also include three people representing the States as employer and three from public sector staff organisations.
‘The formation of this group is the next major step in the process my committee has been working on since the review of UK public sector pension schemes was announced over a year ago,’ said Public Sector Remunerations Committee chairman Allister Langlois (pictured).
The move comes as UK public sector workers prepare to go on strike on Wednesday over proposed changes to their pensions.

Why don’t we get Baroness Thatcher and Arthur Scargill to be joint chairs? Should make for some interesting meetings!
