Cub scout to get gold Blue Peter badge after his bomb discovery
Wednesday 30th November 2011, 2:14PM GMT.
CUB Scout Toby Benstead is to receive a gold Blue Peter badge at 10 Downing Street tomorrow in recognition of finding an unexploded bomb.
The Fourth Guernsey Air Scouts cub (pictured) came across a 75mm German high explosive shell in June this year, while he was playing at Le Catioroc, Perelle, with his group.
His calm and quick thinking meant the group and their leader were able to clear the area of other cubs and their helpers quickly.
Toby was later invited by the bomb disposal unit to press the button on a controlled explosion that destroyed the bomb safely.
But it was his sister Bernadette, 13, who nominated the youngster for the gold badge, which is the highest honour a child can receive from Blue Peter.

I thought I’d fill in for pbfalla……
Shocking! Some quick-thinking youngster who showed considerable bravery and consideration for others is to be honoured at 10 Downing St.
RIP the old guernsey (when amidst the poverty and repression occupying german forces used to leave explosives strewn around).

Someone found a WW2 mine on the beach a while back, seems they show up whenever there is a large storm shifting the sand around.
A little while ago I actually found a chemicals container which got picked up. Not too sure what it was but it looked hazardous.

It doesn’t surprise me at all. Every year I find I stumble over more and more partially covered pairs of buzzokas down at local beaches – clumsy Godfrey. They seem to show up whenever there is sunshine about.
