A SUPPORT group for those who feel suicidal has seen an increase in the number of people attending its sessions, the Guernsey Bereavement Service has said.

The charity holds a session on the first Wednesday of each month.

Centre coordinator Maura Stacey believed the rise in the number attending could be due to increased stresses in modern life.

‘There are more demands on people,’ she said. ‘Perhaps rather than that person feeling as if they can come and talk to someone about it, they feel so low that they feel this is the only way out.’

So far in 2011 there have been three recorded suicides – although that number could increase after scheduled inquests.
