SKATERS using the ice-rink in Market Square were full of praise for the facility and traders also said that the area has been busier since it has been in place.

James Evans, event organiser for Terrace Promotions, said yesterday that 7,000 people had so far used the rink.

‘It has been very popular and tickets are selling quickly now that it is coming towards the end,’ he said.

Joy manager Johanna Herring said it was her first time in this role.

‘The rink has boosted footfall but as it is my first Christmas it is hard to compare.’
