ALL of today’s taking at Beeton’s fish and chip shop in Pitronnerie Road will be donated to Les Bourgs Hospice.

It’s the fifth year in a row that owners Andy and Kim Ashplant have opened especially on a day between Christmas and new year and donated all of the day’s takings to the cause.

Last year they raised £3,250 from the event, which also sees staff at the shop donating some of their wages.

Nicer people than the Ashp’s are few and far between in Guernsey.

They work hard for their money and appreciate what they have, as well as what they can give to others at this time of year.

This attitude is also known amongst their staff.

We can but aspire to the same…
