LODGERS are vital to enable income all year round, hoteliers and lodging house proprietors have said.

But one lodging house thinks premises should be either one or the other to prevent problems such as those suffered by the Atlantique Hotel and The Deerhound Inn, which have both been instructed to stop unauthorised operations as lodging accommodation.

Les Embruns became lodging facilities approximately 12 years ago.

Manager Tom O’Connor said it enabled the establishment to avoid ups and downs in its level of income.

‘It is more constant for us,’ he said. ‘The tourist industry is very seasonal – places often only have June to August when they are full.’

Remember that Environment does not do common sense

Does no one think that it is appalling that so many of our people can not have decent living space at a rate they can afford, the stinkiest Guernsey fiasco of all runs on and on.
Make the North Beach a caravan park and it would be full by the end of the week so dire is the situation here but the States would be shamed by our “Trailer Trash” visible in town!
