FISH and chip lovers came out in force at Beeton’s last night, for the shop’s charity opening for Les Bourgs Hospice.
It was the fifth year in a row that owners Andy and Kim Ashplant have opened the Pitronnerie Road chippie on a day between Christmas and New Year and donated all the takings to the cause.
They exceeded all expectations last year when £3,250 was raised and Mrs Ashplant said they hoped to do the same this year.
‘Everything seems to be going really well at the moment. We are well on track and keeping busy.’
- Also helping to raise money for Les Bourgs is local band Top Banana. The 10-piece outfit formed in 1999 and broke up in 2006, but will reform for one night of soul and funk tomorrow at a New Year’s Eve party at L’Eree Bay Hotel Brasserie from 7.30pm until late. Tickets are priced £40 and are available from Chris Carr on 07781 122919 or by emailing nyeparty booking@gmail. com.
