PRESENTER and journalist Dawn Porter is to marry boyfriend Chris O’Dowd after the comedian and rising Hollywood star popped the question as they holidayed in Guernsey.

Miss Porter, who was raised by her aunt and uncle in the island and went to Ladies’ College, took to social networking site Twitter to reveal the big news.

‘I guess he liked it, coz he put a ring on it,’ she wrote, confirming that Mr O’Dowd, star of Channel 4’s The IT Crowd and hit US movie Bridesmaids, proposed on the wall at Havelet Bay on Boxing Day.

‘I was very surprised, but not a single part of me thought to say no, so that’s a good start. We went straight to the Ship and Crown for a bottle of champagne and a cottage pie,’ she told the Guernsey Press yesterday.
