GSPCA among objectors to Queen’s Road ‘castle’ plans

QUEEN’S ROAD residents fear plans for rebuilding a bungalow in the area would restrict their exquisite views of the islands because of its ‘castle-like’ size.
A planning application was submitted to Environment to demolish a small house off the road, which was once a farm, and replace it with a six-bedroom house.
Residents have said the proposed replacement is out of proportion to the existing building, as it would be approximately 10 times the size – from around 700sq. ft to 7,000.
However, project architect Peter Falla of PF+A has defended the design, saying it fits in nicely.

Clearly ‘money’ is rapidly destroying – if it has not already destroyed, Guernsey. In addition to that, replacing a 700sq ft Guernsey cottage with a 7,000 sq ft moneybags ‘bungalow’ is obscene, disgusting, even evil in that it will destroy the outlook, the views, the way of life for a quantity of other Guernsey residents. Far too much of this is being permitted in todays world. In Guernsey, it must be stopped. This, is an excellent opportunity to stop it.
‘Environment’ can do it. ‘Environment’ has the power to deny this application and in doing so show that they respect ALL residents while at the same time advise the applicant/s that a more suitable location that does not destroy the lives of other people must be found for their ‘mega (so-called) ‘bungalow’.
Should ‘Environment’ see fit to totally ignore all home-owners affected by this appalling application and allow the monstrosity to be buit then ‘Environent’ should be ousted from The States, in-total, by an organised re-call campaign ( legal in the Island, I presume…?) led by the people affected by this application and supported by the majority of local Guernsey residents.
It will take some organising, but it has been done in other ‘democracies’worldwide. It can be done again.

Expat80,
I think you have put it in a nutshell.

Can anyone tell me what this new building has to do with the GSPCA? Are the builders going to be killing or maiming animals when building this “bungalow”?
If it has nothing specific to do with the treatment of animals then the lady should object only in her own name not the organisation she represents.
Is The Governor objecting to his view being marred by this so called eyesore? If you got him to object then there would be no chance of it being built.
Hell, with him representing Her Majesty it would be treason.

Of course the easy answer is to build most of it below ground and just leave the top 700sq.ft. above ground. END OF PROBLEM
