More women than ever have problem with alcohol

MORE women than ever are seeking treatment for alcohol-related health problems, medical and charity workers have said.

There has also been an increase in the number of women seeking help for alcohol and drug addiction.

As islanders prepare for New Year celebrations tonight, Guernsey Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council director David Newman said when he started work at the charity 18 years ago, only one in four of the people asking for help with alcohol problems were women.

That number was now split equally between the sexes.

His comments follow remarks by director of public health Dr Stephen Bridgman, who said the health service was dealing with more people with problems associated with drinking, especially women.

Doubtless men are to blame, the reality is, somewhere along the line someone has shown the ladies how to unscrew bottle tops and pull corks..

Time for the Police and Courts to reflect that reality rather than just Demonising males.

So, is the reason that over 90% of prison populations are male due to the police and courts demonising males then Zab?

      What a ridiculous post!

Indeed the heading of the article makes an unsubstantiated assumption – it may just be that more women are now asking for help.

Why do you men feel so victimised when you own most of the wealth, still get paid more for the same work and on the whole do hardly any of the housework? Just asking.

When 50% of Fathers get their children following divorce that will be equality under the law.

        Is that ridiculous too?

Maybe more are asking for help, its a medical fact that smaller amounts of the stuff damage females proportionatly more.

As for the victiised male rant about wealth ownership and equal pay those are gross generalizations which were once valid in our society and not down to me.

I never objected to Equality but that does not mean males should be less than equal, as for the housework jibe that merely demonstrates your wish to impose your values on people with an equally valid alternative view, who’s the dictator?

I’d be astounded if 50% of fathers would actually want their children full-time after divorce.

I did not say the inequalities in society were down to you, but they are certainly still in existence and a long way from being history.

I assume the ‘equally valid view’ to which you refer means ‘living in squalor’.

          What a sexist rant,

Males do not want their children!
          Males live in squalor|
Only the sisters are discriminated against!

Please refer to original post and stop demonising men.
