Jailed five months on a failed charge, man resorts to heroin
Friday 27th January 2012, 2:29PM GMT.
AFTER spending five months on remand on a charge that was dropped Kendall Chivers was released from prison, but soon afterwards it was discovered he had turned to heroin while inside.
Chivers, 42, from Portsmouth, admitted possessing the class A drug when he appeared in the Royal Court.
He was jailed for four months but walked free because he had been in prison on remand since his arrest in September.
Advocate Mallett said her client was a hard-working man and a loving father. He had always been employed and she said the fact that his job was being held open for him spoke volumes about his good character.

He’s found with £5,000 worth of heroin INSIDE the prison?
I think this raises just a few (!!!!) further questions……………

The Guernsey hilton at its best, hope there has been an enquiry into how these drugs came to be in the prison and that this will be published in the public domain, not secreted away as normal

Seems like this stuff is more easier to get hold of in pris then in public.

it does seem more easier don’t it

This story saddens me so much…

When I was inside there was smack everywhere, believe it or not it used to be imported directly into the prison from the UK (in the soles of shoes and such like) then exported out on prisoner visits. The prison authorities and customs eventually worked out what was happening but nobody got charged with anything and it never made the media. Some of the things that go on in there are unbelievable, although I don’t agree with the “Hilton” label, the loss of liberty is the over-riding factor of being banged up.
