FOREST parishioners living near the airport are preparing themselves for significant disruption as the £80m. runway repair and extension project gets under way this week.
Public Services has announced that Lagan Construction plans to begin setting up the work compounds on Thursday in preparation for the main phase of construction in the spring.
The compounds will be placed on five sites at or close to the airport.
Debbie Niedrum, 44, who has lived with her family along Route de Farras for a year, said that she still had reservations about the project.
‘I have two children at Forest School and they are both asthmatic,’ she said. ‘I’m worried about the concrete works and the dust.’

I have not seen the whole article as am not on the island now, however, a year ago the plans were out of what was going on so why if that concerned why buy a house so close?
Hear hear “sense”…..why or why did Debbie move so close when it was common knowledge as to what was going to happen.
I doubt there will be sufficient dust to cause problems with asthma. The contractors will keep the dust down with water.
