Water commercialisation plan frozen for now
Wednesday 8th February 2012, 1:37PM GMT.
PUBLIC Services’ plans to commercialise Guernsey’s water and wastewater operations have been put on hold by the States.
Some members were concerned that there was not enough detail in the proposals, including what it would mean to peoples’ bills and how it would be regulated.
But they did accept that the two services should merged under the Guernsey Water name.
The department will have to come back with a full business case for commercialisation once the merger has happened after an amendment led by Deputy Matt Fallaize was successful by 41 votes to four.
