PRIMARY school heads have welcomed a review of the sector.
The Education Department announced on Friday that it had commissioned an interim report to look at a range of issues including attainment and progress in literacy and numeracy.
Those heads approached by the Guernsey Press said the inquiry would help primary schools continue to improve standards but stressed that parents should consider contextual information behind the statistics when the review is published.
Hautes Capelles head Sue Coughlin said the external review by Denis Mulkerrin, Trevor Grayland and Tim Tatham was a positive step as it would focus on teaching and learning standards.
St Andrew’s Primary head Linda Paley said she welcomed anything that would help schools continue to improve and raise standards.
