AIRLINE passengers were frustrated late yesterday after a two-hour interruption to radar services at Jersey Airport resulted in a number of delayed flights.

Airport director Colin Le Ray said Guernsey air traffic control was able to handle services in and around its own airspace but this did not include flights to and from the UK, which resulted in the majority of services being delayed.

Mr Le Ray was first told of the problem at just before 4.30pm and that the radar was back in action by 6.30.

He has not been told what caused the problem. He apologised for the delays, which he said were outside of Guernsey’s control.
