Election recount – no change to result
Friday 20th April 2012, 6:53PM BST.
Safe: Deputies-elect Lester Queripel, left, and Garry Collins.
Recounts of the votes cast in the elections for St Peter Port North and the Vale have made no difference to the results.
Rhoderick Matthews had called for the recount in St Peter Port North after missing out on a seat by just three votes to Lester Queripel, while in the Vale James Symons made the request when he finished 42 votes behind Garry Collins.
The count took place in the Dorey Room at St James this afternoon. Final confirmed St Peter Port North figures showed Matthews polled 936 while Queripel had 938, therefore no change in position.
Final figures for the Vale showed that Deputy-elect Collins had 1,275 (down one vote) while Mr Symons had 1,232 (down 2).

Thank the Lord the results stood, we could have ended up with Roderick Mathews as CM or even worse as Chancellor.
Roderick will be OK, he`ll probably end up working with his bestest mate Charley Parkinson.
Well done the voters, we showed `em.

Phew! That’s a relief.

Wish the Vale recount had produced a different result myself.
Did none of the Valeites out there see the state of Mr Collins literature? It was an embarrassment. Some of the content just didn’t make sense. I think I entered OMG territory after the second sentence.
Must be lots of bowlers in the Vale.

Russ
Agreed, and I remember that Martino made comment on the many typos in his manifesto
I also agree that Collins’ sporting connections may have served him well in the seventh place lottery between the two newbies made necessary by the unfortunate need to keep Webber at bay
I hope Collins does well, but he will bear close watching
