LADIES’ College and Melrose students have a brand new centre for their art and drama lessons, thanks to fund-raising and donations.

The £2m. building, which has a glass corridor link from Melrose, represents the completion of phase two of the school’s plans to upgrade facilities.

It will be used for the creative areas in the curriculum and replaces old huts that have been there since the First World War.

The first phase of the plan was to build new facilities for the sixth form students. The Leaf Centre was opened in the summer of 2011 and provides resources for independent learning and areas for teaching and socialising.
