HEATHER WATSON thanked islanders for all of their support throughout her career at a special reception yesterday evening hosted by the Bailiff.

The British number one tennis player was joined by Richard Collas and many people who had played a part in her success in the Bailiff’s Chambers.

Miss Watson, 20, said she had had a happy childhood growing up in Guernsey and was proud to be from the island.

The purpose of the evening was to celebrate and congratulate Miss Watson on her achievements.

Mr Collas specifically congratulated her for being selected for the London Olympics and for winning the WTA Japan Open earlier this month.
