Christmas ice rink is set to return
Wednesday 14th November 2012, 8:30AM GMT.
ICE SKATING will return to Market Square this Christmas after a final sponsor has been found.
The future of the seasonal rink – which has been installed in the square for the festive period over the last few years – had been in doubt due to rising costs and a shortage of sponsors.
But Saffery Champness stepped in ahead of last Friday’s deadline, meaning the rink will return.
Ice Skate Guernsey Project Manager James Evans said he was thrilled it was going ahead.
‘It went right to the wire and we negotiated extra time with the site manager,’ he said.
- It is intended that the ice rink will operate from 10 December until 8 January.

Well done Saffery Champness. Shame on some other businesses who failed to respond for assistance in retaining this Christmas festivity.
The skating brings so much pleasure to Islanders young and old
Once again well done to you.

Well done, both SC and James Evans. I hope the local charities will set up their stalls and benefit too.
